Voters turn back second Terrell ISD bond effort

editor@terrelltribune.com Voters across the country made their way to the polls in recent weeks, weighing their options in a series of contested races with both local and national implications. For eligible residents living within the boundaries of the Terrell ISD, the November election cycle also included a proposed $115 million bond proposal that would have been used to address infrastructure issues district-wide. District voters ultimately voted against the bond proposal, with 3,427 people voting against the measure and 2,918 voting for the measure.

TxDOT to hold public meeting on outer loop

The Texas Department of Transportation has announced that they will host a meeting seeking the public’s input on a proposed project that would connect SH 305 to South of Interstate 20 with an interchange at US Highway 80 and Interstate 20 in Kaufman County.

Social Science Club to host Tour of Homes Dec. 3

Ribbon cutting set for new justice center

The public is invited for a special ribbon cutting event and facilities tour for the soon to be completed Kaufman County Justice Center located at 1902 US Highway 175 in Kaufman. The completion of the project has been years in the making, officially getting greenlit back in 2019 as part of the same bond package that led to the construction of the Pet Adoption Center that opened its doors in April 2022.

Gas prices remain steady over past week

Average gasoline prices in Texas are unchanged in the last week, averaging $3.13/g Nov. 7, according to GasBuddy's survey of 13,114 stations in Texas. Prices in Texas are 8.7 cents per gallon lower than a month ago and stand 7.4 cents per gallon higher than a year ago. The national average price of diesel has risen 3.4 cents in the last week and stands at $5.32 per gallon.

Gooden receives Hero of Main Street Award

SPCA removes allegedly abandoned animals

The SPCA of Texas and the Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office have removed 18 allegedly abandoned dogs—13 dogs and five newborn puppies—from a property near Kemp, Texas. The owner previously relinquished custody of the animals.
