Council race to be decided

DAVID KAPITAN editor@terrelltribune.com The Terrell community will reach the finish line of another election cycle today (May 6) with eligible voters have the opportunity to decide a three-person race to represent District 5 on the city council. The filing period, which ran from mid-January to mid-February for Terrell ISD and City of Terrell, was largely uneventful with four out of five potential races finishing with just one filer.

Tayem recognized at weekly meeting

The Terrell City Council returned to its home base this week, hosting its regularly scheduled weekly meeting at the City Hall after three consecutive sessions at the Terrell High School Auditorium. Unlike previous sessions, which largely focused on the annexation of land, the city’s May 2 meeting ran the gamut with a series of reports from department heads as well as items related to city’s long-term downtown development plan.
The Terrell Chamber of Commerce and the Terrell City Council recognized Cindy Tayem, recently retired Area Manager for Oncor, at the May 2 Council meeting. Chamber of Commerce President Carlton Tidwell presented her with a plaque naming her as an Honorary Life Member of the Chamber.
