Over $6.5 million In workforce grants awarded

Governor Greg Abbott announced over $6.5 million in Texas Talent Connection grants awarded to 21 workforce skills training and job placement programs in communities across the state July 10. “Thanks to our young, skilled, diverse, and growing workforce, Texas is the best state for business,” said Governor Abbott.

Texas cotton crop outlook uncertain

Texas cotton growers whose crops held on through recent weather could find strong prices during a summer of uncertainty, according to a Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service expert. John Robinson, Ph.D., AgriLife Extension cotton economist, Bryan-College Station, said the 2023 cotton season will be the most uncertain he has ever analyzed.

Gas price increase reported in Texas

Average gasoline prices in Texas have risen 3.5 cents per gallon in the last week, averaging $3.14/g July 17, according to GasBuddy’s survey of 13,114 stations in Texas. Prices in Texas are 5.3 cents per gallon higher than a month ago and stand 85.9 cents per gallon lower than a year ago. The national average price of diesel has risen 0.1 cents in the last week and stands at $3.80 per gallon.

My fish have died, what caused the problem?

TOMMY PHILLIPS County Extension Agent Every year a number of East Texas pond owners lose part or all of their farm pond fish population due to an oxygen depletion. An oxygen depletion is not the only cause of fish die-offs in Texas ponds, but about 85percent of the time it is the most common cause of fish kills.
