Gift of Hope seeks donations for Kaufman County children

Thanks to you and others in our community, the Gift of Hope has provided Christmas for over 1,000 Kaufman County children in need for the past Seven years. As we prepare for another holiday season, we anticipate that the need will be even greater this year.

In response to the growing demand for resources provided by counties to Special Purpose Districts across Texas, like law enforcement and emergency services, State Representative Keith Bell filed today crucial legislation aimed at safeguarding the interests of our counties and communities while ensuring responsible growth. Texas, with its diverse and expanding population, relies on Special Purpose Districts to meet various community needs, from Municipal Utility Districts (MUDs) to Health and Hospital Districts.

Kaufman County seals time capsule for 175th celebration

Kaufman County celebrated its 175th Anniversary with a time capsule sealing on Tuesday, Oct. 10. Trinity Valley Community College - Kaufman Campus participated in the time capsule sealing and submitted a TVCC pennant for the capsule. The time capsule will be dug back up in 100 years in 2123. It was a privilege for TVCC - Kaufman Campus to be recognized during this event.

1948-2023 Ronnie (Ron) Pat Wesson of Terrell, Texas passed away unexpectedly on Oct. 15, 2023 and his family takes great comfort in the words from the apostle Paul in 2 Corinthians 5:8 that to be absent here on Earth is to be present with the Lord.

Dry conditions could pose challenges for waterfowl hunters

Lingering drought conditions throughout much of Texas could present challenges as waterfowl hunters prepare for the start of the new season. The dry habitat conditions in many parts of the state are not ideal for ducks and duck hunters, according to Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) biologists, however, weather pattern changes, timely cold fronts and significant rain could boost hunters’ prospects.
