Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller announced prior to the conclusion of the 2022-’23 school year that the Summer Meal Program administered by the Texas Department of Agriculture will once again provide healthy meals at sites across Texas this summer.

The Texas Education Agency released spring 2023 State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness results for end-ofcourse assessments. The results include assessments in Algebra I, English I, English II, Biology, and U.S. History.

UT Tyler offers free dementia screenings

The University of Texas at Tyler offers free dementia and other brain-related screenings to the East Texas community through the UT Tyler Memory Assessment and Research Center. The UT Tyler MARC is dedicated to innovative scientific research and improving the lives of Tyler, Smith County and East Texas community members by providing neuropsychological screening and evaluation services to older adults with suspected or existing cognitive impairment.

NTMWD honored with Exemplary Source Water Protection Award

The North Texas Municipal Water District was recognized by the American Water Works Association as the recipient of its 2023 Exemplary Source Water Protection Award for Large Water Systems. This prestigious honor acknowledges organizations in North America that have successfully developed and are implementing exemplary source water protection programs. The award was presented during the AWWA Annual Conference & Exposition in Toronto, Canada, which took place June 11-14, 2023.
The North Texas Municipal Water District was recognized by the American Water Works Association as the recipient of its 2023 Exemplary Source Water Protection Award for Large Water Systems.
