Furlough MS to open College Prep Academy

An exciting new opportunity is making its way to students who attend Furlough Middle School next year. The College Preparatory Academy at Furlough Middle School will open in August 2025 and will help middle school students to build a strong college readiness foundation.

Books and Crannies hosting “Rex’s Exes”

Books and Crannies will be hosting the play “Rex’s Exes” at 209 West Moore Avenue in historic downtown Terrell March 21-23 and March 28-30. The Vagabond Players will be presenting “Rex’s Exes” by Jessie Jones, Nicholas Hope and Jamie Wooten and it is a deliriously funny Southern-fried farce that finds the Verdeen cousins teetering on the brink of disaster again.

The 117th Industrial & Membership Luncheon brought together community leaders, businesses, and organizations on February 10, 2025, for a day of inspiration, recognition, and celebration. A highlight of the event was keynote speaker Kaufman County District Attorney Erleigh Wiley, who provided valuable insights into the Kaufman County Crime Task Force and key initiatives led by her office.

Kaufman County leaders advocate at the State Capitol

Leaders from across Kaufman County traveled to Austin to meet with state legislators, advocate for local priorities, and strengthen relationships with policymakers. The delegation kicked off the event with a welcome reception at the Stephen F. Austin Hotel in Downtown Austin on Monday evening, setting the stage for a productive and engaging trip.

Terrell man sentenced for Swingin’ Doors shooting

editor@terrelltribune.com A Terrell man was recently sentenced to 25 years in prison for a shooting that killed a man at Swingin’ Doors club in December of 2023. Nicholas Longoria, who was 34 at the time of the shooting, was convicted and sentenced to 25 years for the murder of 27-year-old Bryan Squires.

Two arrested for attempting to smuggle drugs

editor@terrelltribune.com Two people were arrested for allegedly attempting to smuggle drugs into a federal prison on Monday, March 3. An investigation by the Grant Parish Sheriff’s Office led to the arrest of 32-yearold Chelsea Johnson of Terrell and 29-year-old Connor Currington of Corinth.

FMS Dance Team named State Grand Champions

The Furlough Middle School Red Motion dance team were named Danceline State Grand Champions on Saturday, March 1. The Red Motion dance team competed at the Danceline’s State Contest at Colony High School.
