The holiday season is upon us! Actually, if you’ve been out to any major big box store, the holiday season has pretty much been upon us since mid- July, and seems to creep back a bit more every year!

A youth football team in Texas has been barred from the playoffs after the organizational leaders decided the team was too good for league play. The 7- and 8-year-old Flower Mound Rebels football team has a perfect record and has outscored their opponents 199-6. The reason given for disbarring the Flower Mound Rebel football team is because they are a select team playing in a recreational league. Is this a disservice to the Rebels or has the recreational league teams been mistreated all season because organizational leaders allowed select teams to participate in a recreational league?

In my neighborhood, some folks have skipped Thanksgiving and gone directly to the Christmas lights. There’s no doubt we all could use some extra cheer as we approach the end of 2021.

The kicker makes the field goal and the crowd roars. The punter booms a ball down the field and fans cheer. Fans cheer for great kickers and punters but how about the person snapping the ball to them?

The Perryman Group's most recent long-term forecast for the U.S. economy calls for notable expansion. Things have improved significantly since the worst of the pandemic, but previous activity levels have not yet been reached. The upward trend should continue (though business cycles are inevitable).

So what exactly is a fiduciary? According to Dictionary.com it is “a person to whom property or power is entrusted for the benefit of another” Some investment advisors are indeed acting as a fiduciary for you if they act in your best interest while managing your investment portfolio. However, there certainly are advisors that still recommend investments that pay them fees and commissions.

As teams finish their season, every player and coach will remember the struggles and accomplishments of the season. Some teams overcame great obstacles and will remember the process of the phenomenal year. Others will remember what could or should have been.

Nov. 13: Veterans Day 5K race.

Daylight Saving Time will come to an official end at 2 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 7, when we set our clocks to fall back one hour. Of course, nobody sits up to do it at that time; we turn our clocks back before we go to sleep on Saturday night, or we do it in a panic on Sunday morning.

What is your situation? Wise coaches seek wise counsel. Whether taking over a downtrodden program or a perennial winner, it is wise to talk to others who have been those positions. How about being in the playoffs for the first time, consecutive times, or finishing the season with a losing record, I believe it is wise to visit with professionals who have been in those positions and successfully handled the situation.
