City of Terrell preps for upcoming eclipse influx

editor@terrelltribune.com The City of Terrell discussed the upcoming plans and preparations for the influx of visitors and events for the Solar Eclipse that is set to take place Monday, April 8. At their March 5 meeting, council members discussed events put on by local businesses as well as school closures and emergency action plans being put in place for Sunday, April 7 and Monday, April 8.

Make plans to shop small during Happy Days in Terrell America, the celebration of Mom-and-Pop Business Owners Day on Saturday, March 23. Participating small businesses will be waiting for you to pop in and say hello! There will be a DJ spinning your favorite “golden oldies” and downtown merchants will be hosting an old-fashioned Shop Hop event. No purchase required to participate, come, and join in the fun and enjoy shopping historic downtown Terrell. Who knows, you might even win something on the prize wheel after completing the Shop Hop!

The Kaufman County residents are invited to take a trip to Austin once again to meet with state and various agency leaders to hear issues affecting Kaufman County citizens. The event will kick off with a reception on Sunday the 24th from 5 p.m.

UPS truck strikes power line

A UPS truck struck a power line Feb. 23, breaking the pole and causing a downed power lines at County Road 243 in Terrell. The road was closed for some time while Oncor personnel were able to clear the lines from the roadway.
