Brookshire Grocery Co. announced an agreement whereby Walgreens will acquire BGC’s 120 pharmacies in Texas, Louisiana and Arkansas, which includes pharmacy customer prescription files and related pharmacy inventory. The vast majority of these locations are being converted to Walgreens pharmacies that will operate inside of BGC’s stores.

Lone Star CASA swears in five new volunteers

On the last Friday afternoon in June at the Rockwall County Courthouse, the Honorable Judge Brett Hall officially swore in five new CASA volunteers. Also known as Court Appointed Special Advocates, these amazing volunteers will work with Lone Star CASA to advocate for children and families involved in the foster care system in Rockwall and Kaufman Counties.

County, Anti-Gang Center join forces

Kaufman County area law enforcement agencies are proud to partner with the Texas Anti-Gang Center to address street crime issues affecting our region. Through a grant from the State, this partnership includes but is not limited to, providing funding for investigators, prosecutors, equipment, and training as well as leveraging intelligence capabilities and platforms in order to enhance the safety and security of the residents of Kaufman County.

Sales tax revenue swoon continues

DAVID KAPITAN editor@terrelltribune.com The City of Terrell opened the new year riding high, having posted sales tax revenue gains when comparing against the same calendar month of the previous year in each of the first four months of 2023 according to the Texas State Comptroller’s Office. That streak would come to an end by the slimmest of margins in May with a .95 percent dip reported when comparing 2023 payment totals against those from 2022.

Kaufman County discusses financials, development

Kaufman County Commissioners met July 11 in a regularly scheduled meeting to discuss county business. After some discussion on the transfer of current insurance policies to AFLAC and the impact the transfer would have on employees, commissioners elected to revisit the topic at the next meeting so that more information and a better understanding of the switch could be gained.
