Gas prices remain steady over past week

Average gasoline prices in Texas are unchanged in the last week, averaging $3.13/g Nov. 7, according to GasBuddy's survey of 13,114 stations in Texas. Prices in Texas are 8.7 cents per gallon lower than a month ago and stand 7.4 cents per gallon higher than a year ago. The national average price of diesel has risen 3.4 cents in the last week and stands at $5.32 per gallon.

Ribbon cutting set for new justice center

The public is invited for a special ribbon cutting event and facilities tour for the soon to be completed Kaufman County Justice Center located at 1902 US Highway 175 in Kaufman. The completion of the project has been years in the making, officially getting greenlit back in 2019 as part of the same bond package that led to the construction of the Pet Adoption Center that opened its doors in April 2022.

DPS launches campaign to fight fentanyl

This month, the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) answered Governor Greg Abbott’s call to action for state agencies by launching a new public awareness campaign to highlight the dangers of fentanyl. The multi-pronged campaign includes posting informational signage in DPS buildings, public service announcements at driver license offices statewide and publishing a webpage offering valuable resources.
