Truck Driving classes coming to TVCC

Trinity Valley Community College Workforce Education and Continuing Education Department is offering Truck Driving/Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) training courses with written skills and hands-on coursework.

Burns speaks to NARFE at monthly meeting

The National Active and Retired Federal Employees (NARFE) Chapter 1191 held its monthly meeting Feb. 8 at the Sirloin Stockade in Corsicana. The guest speaker was Thomas Burns, CEO of the Corsicana YMCA since 2017 after serving as sports director. Burns is originally from Kerrville, and a graduate of Texas Tech in Sports Management and Sports Medicine. He is married with three children.

Hardin earn NAFI Master Instructor Accreditation

The National Association of Flight Instructors is proud to announce that NAFI member John “Mike” Hardin has earned accreditation as a NAFI Master Flight Instructor. This is Hardin’s second consecutive NAFI Master Accreditation.

Constitutional amendment order decided

Texas Deputy Secretary of State Joe Esparza today drew the ballot order for the two proposed amendments to the Texas Constitution that will appear on the ballot for the May 7, 2022 Election. In order to appear on the ballot, the proposed amendments must be approved by at least two-thirds of the members of both the Texas Senate and the Texas House of Representatives.

TISD Board of Trustees calls for bond election

The Terrell Independent School District’s (TISD) Board of Trustees voted unanimously to adopt a proposed $95 million bond program by the District’s Citizens’ Facilities Team (CFT) at its Feb. 7 meeting. The proposed bond program will not raise Terrell ISD’s current tax rate.

The Terrell Tiger and Lady Tigers overcame both the elements and the Athens soccer program to score a pair of district wins by identical 2-1 scores Feb. 12. The Tigers, currently 9-1-4 on the season including 4-1-2 in district play, are scheduled to host Kemp beginning at 9 a.m. Feb. 19 before traveling to Ferris Feb. 21. BFTS Museum to screen World War II bomber documentary

“Halifax at War: The Story of a Bomber” a documentary about one of the aircraft that cadets from the No. 1 British Flying Training School flew, will be shown at the BFTS Museum, 119 Silent Wings Blvd. in Terrell at 7 p.m. on Feb. 24. Viewing the film is free to the public.
