editor@vanzandtnews.com The Kaufman County Commissioners Court has had its hands full with the new year looming just over the horizon, meeting weekly to wrap up what was a busy year while also laying the groundwork for what’s to come.

On Thursday, November 17, Kaufman County celebrated the completion of the new 98,000 square foot Justice Center on Highway 175 with a Ribbon Cutting ceremony and Open House. The event was full of excitement and grandeur as Kemp High School and Terrell High School played major roles in the ceremony.

The holidays came early last week as the Terrell ISD Excellence Foundation delivered grant awards totaling $170,753 to Terrell ISD staff and students. The Excellence Foundation was founded in 2008 with a mission statement of encouraging excellence in education and seeking and distributing funds to support effective programs and initiatives to further enhance learning for public school students in the Terrell community.

The Terrell Chamber of Commerce Convention and Visitors Bureau and Better Business Bureau are encouraging residents to shop small this holiday season, that serve as the lifeblood of the local community by helping to make Terrell a better place to live, work and play.
