Citizens University seeking applicants

Local Juneteenth celebration planned

For the sixth consecutive year, the Association of Breezy Hill Park will host a Juneteenth event at Breezy Hill Park (located at 351 New Hope Street in Terrell). Events are set to run from 11 a.m.

West named WINGS Coordinator for library

When Lora West became the WINGS Adult Education Coordinator at Hulsey Public Library earlier this spring, she said she truly believed it was her opportunity to fly. A trained educator, West had spent the previous seven years working alongside her husband Brian as he served as pastor at Oak Grove Baptist Church in Elmo.

Fire marshal warns of dangerous conditions

Kaufman County area fire departments had their hands full June 13, responding to two separate fires that scorched more than 50 acres each. In light of the dangerous conditions, officials stressed the importance of following best practices whenever cutting and baling hay.

Ryder Norris of Boy Scout Troop 390 stands next to the flag retirement collection box he made as his Eagle Scout project. The collection box is located in the Hulsey Public Library (301 N. Rockwall Ave.). Boy Scout Troop 390 meets every Monday from 7-8 p.m. at First Christian Church.

Antique Tractor and Engine Club to host event

The North Texas Antique Tractor and Engine Club will roll out the red carpet at Ben Gill Park this weekend, welcoming the public to its annual summer showcase event June 11-12. This year’s event will include a full slate of events including small engine displays, a tractor parade, a tractor display, a kiddie obstacle course, pedal tractors, antique tractor pulls, a blacksmith demonstration, stationary hay baling and knife and scissor sharpening.
