Fourth annual Townes Van Zandt Tribute scheduled in Ben Wheeler

The Van Zandt Arts & Cultural District Foundation presents the fourth annual Tribute to Townes Van Zandt from 2-4 p.m., Sunday, March 6 at The Forge Bar & Grill in historic downtown Ben Wheeler. The late Townes Van Zandt is often referred to as the most influential Texas songwriter of the 20th century.

TVCC Advising Office giving away goody bags

The TVCC Advising Office has awarded goody bags to two students following a contest involving early registration. Elika Salazar from the Terrell Health Science Center, who is currently taking online classes and Colton Huddleston from the Palestine campus were the prize winners.

Primary Election Day set for March 1

Early voting for the March 1 primary ended Friday, Feb. 25 across the state of Texas. Initial reports indicate turnout has been low, as is traditional in midterm primary elections, with less than a fourth of registered voters going to the polls most years.

Colorguard program shines at Princeton event

Members of the Terrell ISD Middle School and High School Colorguard programs continued their respective seasons last week, traveling to Princeton to test themselves against some of the top programs from across the area.

The Elmo Fire Department held a special ceremony to unveil and dedicate its newest apparatus, a custom-built fire engine, in front of department and community members Feb. 19. Officials with the department noted, “We are very proud of this custom-built engine, as it is the first new engine for our departmen t in 15 years. We also dedicated this engine in memory of Billy Wynn. He played a huge role in the development of Elmo Fire Department from day one.
