Redistricting bill sent to Abbott; lawsuit challenges it

The Texas Senate approved the new congressional map and sent the bill to Governor Greg Abbott. A lawsuit challenging the redrawn districts as being racially discriminatory was filed before Abbott could sign the bill, which he has promised to do soon.

Terrell Entertainment Series kicks off its 23rd season of family- friendly concerts with a salute to 1950s Rockn’ Roll legends Jerry Lee Lewis, Fats Domino, Little Richard, Ray Charles and others in a high-energy tribute show entitled “Pianomania.” This performance is set for Thursday evening, September 18, 2025, at the Terrell ISD Jamie Foxx Performing Arts Center. The curtain goes up at 7:30 PM.

The 10th Annual Clays for CASA Clay Shoot raises essential funds for Lone Star CASA

Clays for CASA, held at the Texas Gun Ranch in Terrell on August 15, 2025, was an outstanding success. The event brought together community supporters and clay shoot enthusiasts, all united in the common goal of supporting Lone Star CASA’s mission. All of the proceeds from this event benefit Lone Star CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) to ensure that 100 percent of children who have experienced abuse and neglect in Rockwall and Kaufman Counties have an advocate by their side.

Royal Air Force Film screening set for Sept. 4

This year, Sept. 2 marks the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II. To honor that important date, the No. 1 British Flying Training School Museum will screen a Royal Air Force film - Journey Together – at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 4 at 119 Silent Wings Blvd., in Terrell. All are welcome for this free program. Refreshments will be served.
