Riter C. Hulsey Public Library Director Rebecca House was presented with a 2025 Achievement of Excellence award from the Texas Municipal Library Association by Mayor Rick Carmona and members of the City Council during the April 7 city council meeting. The library is among only 101 of the 516 public libraries in the state earning this accreditation for excellence in 10 categories. This is the 3rd consecutive year HPL has been awarded this honor. Mayor Rick Carmona also read a proclamation designating April 1925 as National Library Week.

The Rockwall and Brin Church of Christ in Terrell will celebrate the 130 years of the formation of their congregation on Sunday, April 19. Beginning with a gathering of all current and former members at 9:30 a.m.

The students showed what it truly means to be champions, demonstrating courage, teamwork and joy every step of the way. Through sports, they build confidence, create friendships and remind us all that anything is possible. Special Olympics helps empower athletes to shine both on and off the field.

Terrell Police Department welcomed their newest officers during the last week of March. Terrell PD welcomed Officers J. Santoyo and T. Huddle during their swearing-in ceremonies alongside their families. Both officers bring over five years of law enforcement experience to the department.

The Terrell Police Department responded to the area of Breezy Hill Park, located in the 300 block of New Hope Street, on Sunday, April 5 in reference to reports of shots fired according to a press release from Terrell PD.

A 41-year-old Forney woman plead guilty to the shooting death of her husband in Kaufman County. According to a press release from the Kaufman County District Attorney Erleigh Wiley’s office, Mayra Diosdado Lara pled guilty to murder in the Feb.
