Fire department warns of continued danger

The Terrell Volunteer Fire Department issued a sobering reminder to residents this week, warning high winds coupled with dry grass, leaves and brush have been a volatile mix for those attempting to conduct controlled burns.

Bribiesca named to Abilene Christian University’s Dean’s Honor Roll Jennifer Bribiesca of Terrell was named to the Abilene Christian University Fall 2021 Dean’s Honor Roll. Bribiesca is a freshman majoring in Child and Family Services.

Office of Emergency Management recognized

The Kaufman County Office of Emergency Management has received a letter of commendation from the Texas Division of Emergency Management (TDEM) for the completion of the county’s update of the Texas Multi Jurisdiction Hazard Mitigation Plan (HMP), and for their commitment to mitigation and will be recognized on Tuesday, January 4, 2022, at the Commissioners’ Court meeting at 9 a.m. for this accomplishment.

Upcoming clean up event set in Kaufman County

Kaufman County residents interested in decluttering their homes of old and unwanted furniture and appliances will have multiple opportunities to do so in 2022 according to county officials. Hegar announces transfer to State Highway and Rainy Day Funds

Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar announced he recently completed the transfer of more than $2.91 billion into the State Highway Fund (SHF) and the Economic Stabilization Fund (ESF; commonly known as the “Rainy Day Fund”). Each fund received nearly $1.46 billion, or 50 percent of the total transfer.

Gift of Hope Project helps children, families in crisis

In an effort to restore faith to community children in crisis during the holiday season whose families may be experiencing financial hardship, children placed into foster care during the Christmas holiday and/or kinship families providing care for additional children in their home, the Gift of Hope is now underway in Kaufman County, and your generosity is needed and appreciated!
