The Terrell Tigers were slated to kick off the 2021 season on the road, traveling to Tommy Standridge Stadium in Carrollton for a showdown with the Newman Smith Trojans Aug. 27. After weeks of two-a-day workouts and scrimmages, the first Friday night of the 2021 regular season is now less than a week away for football programs across the state of Texas. Terrell, which finished last season with a 3-7 record overall, including a 2-4 mark in District 7-4A play, will officially kick off its season on the road against Carrollton Newman Smith Aug.

A big thank you to our cheerleaders and Ms. Crissy Meador who have been working hard decorating the school to welcome back teachers and students.

The Terrell Tigers had their first opportunity to tangle with an opponent not dressed in red and white this week, scrimmaging the Sunnyvale Raiders in Sunnyvale Aug. 13.

The summer months often provide teachers a welcome break from the hustle and bustle of the classroom setting. For Terrell ISD teacher Shauna Hall, summer vacation meant training for and competing against some of the best athletes in the world at the 70.3- mile Ironman Hawaii event in June.

Terrell student-athletes participating in cross country, football and volleyball shook off the rust from a long offseason Aug. 2, participating in their UIL sanctioned two-a-day workouts of the 2021-’22 school year.

Members of Terrell State Hospital and the city of Terrell squared off on the diamond for a good cause at Ben Gill Park July 29, taking part in a charity game benefitting the Terrell Riter C. Hulsey Friends of the Library and Terrell State Hospital Volunteer Services Council.

Athletes representing the Northtexas Longhorns Summer Track Club made the short trek to Greenville last week, competing against some of the best and brightest from across the area for a shot to advance to the State Meet.

If a survey was given to fishermen throughout the state and the question posed, “What do you consider to be the most ‘fished for’ species in the state?” Which species do you think would rank at the top?

These members of Terrell’s North Texas Longhorns track club are among those who have medaled at recent AAU-sanctioned track meets in Dallas, Desoto, Lancaster and Fort Worth.
