The city of Terrell on Saturday, May 22, will host walk-up COVID-19 vaccination clinics at Breezy Hill Park and Stallings Park. A clinic will be held at Breezy Hill from 8 a.m. to noon, and from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Stallings.

Barry South was born October 3, 1963 in Germany; the son of Lewis South and Barbara Greebe. Barry married Tracey Hunt in Terrell, Texas on July 3, 1992.

Derrick to be sworn in Monday

Tonya Derrick will officially be sworn into her position at the next Terrell ISD School Board meeting on Monday, May 17 at the Jamie Foxx Performing Arts Center. Derrick, who defeated Pat Martin 285-62 in the May 1 election, assumes the District 3 seat held by Lisa Asher, the current school board vice president.

Casino gambling in Texas not likely this year

A bid to bring casinos to Texas appears have rolled snake eyes. Monday was the deadline for House committees to advance that chamber’s bills and joint resolutions, and the deadline passed without the State Affairs Committee voting out the Las Vegas Sands-backed House Joint Resolution 133, The Texas Tribune reported.
