An original open cockpit Stearman biplane will soar in the skies over Terrell on July 2 to celebrate the aircraft’s donation to the No. 1 British Flying Training School Museum.

These members of the Terrell State Hospital community relations staff provided information about the hospital’s Volunteer Services Council at last week’s Hulsey Public Library’s Activities Fair, which marked the start of the library’s annual Summer Reading Program. Members of the Terrell Volunteer Fire Department stand on a 16-inch heavyduty utility trailer built by Hawn Freeway Trailer Sales and Service. The trailer will be used to transport the department’s Gator UTV. The UTV will be used for firefighting as well as search-and-rescue operations. Lt. Get ready to go wild! This year’s Kaufman County Summer Reading Program theme — “Tails and Tales” — is all about animals. Readers will explore the animals of different biomes each week during the Kaufman County Library’s annual summer reading program.

These works of art were among the many beautiful pieces on display the evening of June 10 at Terrell State Hospital’s Volunteer Services Council’s second annual Patient Art Show and Silent Auction. Proceeds from the auction will benefit youths living at the hospital.SOCIAL MEDIA

After 40 days of renovation, the Kaufman County Library is scheduled to re-open on Tuesday, June 22. The library closed on May 12 to have some notable renovations made, including new paint, flooring, and an upgraded technology system in the community room.

Over 20 years ago, the Texas Legislature passed the Texas Economic Development Act, which allows school districts to offer tax incentives for businesses that invest in their communities. The Act, commonly called "Chapter 313" because of its position in the Texas Tax Code, fundamentally improved the economic development landscape. Chapter 313 has been extended several times but is now set to expire Dec. 31, 2022.

Judy Ann Truelove Nelson “Grammy”, 68, of Terrell, passed away peacefully on June 9th, 2021. A celebration of Judy’s life will be held at the home of Paul J. Nelson, 4890 CR 2238 in Greenville 75402 on July 3, 2021. Food and fellowship will begin at 8pm followed by fireworks show at 10pm.
