State sales tax revenue totaled $3.4 billion in July

Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar said state sales tax revenue totaled $3.39 billion in July, 13.5 percent more than in July 2020. The majority of July sales tax revenue is based on sales made in June and remitted to the agency in July.“

August 7, 1852 On this day in 1852, Alexander Cockrell paid $7,000 for the portion of the John Neely Bryan homestead that included the Dallas townsite and the Trinity River ferry concession. Bryan, a Tennessee native born in 1810, had settled at a natural ford on the east bank of the Trinity in 1841.

Longhorns strike gold five times at State

The North Texas Longhorns track program hit the road last weekend, following up a successful run at the Regional Meet with an appearance at State. The Longhorns more than held their own competing against the best athletes in the state of Texas, finishing the event with five gold medals, three silver medals and four bronze medals.
