Soccer programs ace district openers

The Terrell Tiger and Lady Tiger soccer program got their first taste of district play on Tuesday, taking on Kemp Yellowjackets and Lady Jackets respectively. Both Terrell teams entered play red-hot, with Coach Joe Stephens noting, “We have used quite a few different lineups due to injuries and other factors this season.

Bridge renamed to honor McNabb

The landmark two-mile bridge on Highway 276 was officially renamed the Staff Sergeant Shawn Henry McNabb Memorial Bridge, honoring the life and legacy of Terrell ISD graduate Shawn McNabb, during a special ceremony Jan. 15.

Ory makes history at UIL State Debate

John Ory, a Terrell High School senior, made Terrell ISD history for a second year in a row by placing seventh at the UIL State Congressional Debate at the Texas State Capitol this week. Last year, Ory made school history simply by being the first ever THS student to advance to the State Tournament.

Court appoints Ayres as county fire marshal

The Kaufman County Commissioners Court kept things short and sweet this week, meeting for less than 30 minutes in open session on Tuesday morning while taking on an agenda that included equipment purchases and the appointment of a new Kaufman County Fire Marshal.

Jan. 26: The Terrell Fire Department is administering vaccinations every Wednesday from 8 a.m. to noon at the Terrell Fire Department Administration Offices at 152 9th Street in Terrell. Vaccines are available for those 12 and up. Walk-ins are welcome on Wednesdays, from 8 a.m.-noon, but registration is preferred to eliminate the wait.
