Fuentes nets four goals in win

The Terrell Lady Tigers continued to prove themselves as the class of the field in District 12- 4A last week, blitzing an overmatched Ferris squad by a 5-0 score to maintain a one game lead over current runner-up Mabank.

The North Texas Longhorns competed in an indoor track meet at the University of Houston. The 8U Girls won gold in the 4x200 relay (Crockett, Dabney, Cosby, Lampkin-Maxie). The 10U Girls won silver in the 4x200 relay (Johnson, Davenport, Mitchell, McCain). Kyren Dabney won gold in the 800 meters and the 400 meters. Amiracle Dabney won silver in the 200 meter dash. Head coach Keith Willis stated, “We took 20 kids to Houston and 15 made finals. I felt this was a great start to the upcoming season and gave us a chance to experience indoor competition.”

Local fire departments have echoed an all too familiar refrain in recent weeks, warning that conditions were less than ideal to conduct controlled burns or work outside with machinery that had not been properly maintained.

The Texas State Comptroller’s Office delivered its second sales tax revenue collection report of the year last week, indicating that most local cities had shown gains when comparing February 2022 totals against those posted during the same calendar month the previous year.

BFTS Museum to screen World War II bomber documentary

“Halifax at War: The Story of a Bomber” a documentary about one of the aircraft that cadets from the No. 1 British Flying Training School flew, will be shown at the BFTS Museum, 119 Silent Wings Blvd. in Terrell at 7 p.m. on Feb. 24. Viewing the film is free to the public.

The Terrell Tiger and Lady Tigers overcame both the elements and the Athens soccer program to score a pair of district wins by identical 2-1 scores Feb. 12. The Tigers, currently 9-1-4 on the season including 4-1-2 in district play, are scheduled to host Kemp beginning at 9 a.m. Feb. 19 before traveling to Ferris Feb. 21. TISD Board of Trustees calls for bond election

The Terrell Independent School District’s (TISD) Board of Trustees voted unanimously to adopt a proposed $95 million bond program by the District’s Citizens’ Facilities Team (CFT) at its Feb. 7 meeting. The proposed bond program will not raise Terrell ISD’s current tax rate.
