March 25: The Knights of Columbus Fish Fry will run from 6-8 p.m. at St. Johns Parrish. The cost is $12 per adult, and $6 for children under 12. Fish fries will also be held every Friday in March as well as April 1 and April 8.

Blasius no-hits Chapel Hill in 12-2 win

The Terrell Tigers got their first taste of District 13-4A play last week, squaring off twice against the rival Kaufman Lions before returning to non-district play for a game against Tyler Chapel Hill.

DAR hosting annual Prom Dress Drive

The King’s Fort Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution is once again hosting a Prom Dress Drive. This year, the drive will benefit the students of Crandall High School. Please drop off your prom dress donations at The Heart of Avon, 203 E. US Highway 80 in Terrell. The last day for donations is March 26.

Terrell man arrested on drug charges

A Terrell man was arrested and taken into custody last week following the execution of a search warrant by members of the Terrell Police Department and Terrell-Forney SWAT Team March 11. According to a press release of the incident, “Narcotics Investigators and the Terrell-Forney SWAT Team executed a ‘knock and announce’ search warrant in the 100 block of Hamilton Dr.

BFTS Museum honors Rosie the Riveters

To recognize Women’s History Month, the No. 1 British Flying Training School Museum will present a free program about the Rosie the Riveters of North Texas on Thursday, March 31 at 7 pm.

The Terrell High School Student Council was named the “Sweepstakes” council - the highest attainable award at the Texas Association of Student Council’s Regional Spring Conference for the fourth consecutive year. In order to obtain this status THS STUCO achieved “Outstanding” level in all four reporting areas, including pride and patriotism, energy and environment, drug awareness, safety and health, and overall student council, in addition to an acknowledgment of fine community service. STUCO Sponsor John Bonadurer commended his students for this distinguished award stating, “This is truly a recognition of the hard work and dedication of the student council members and a distinction which they have now accomplished for a fourth year in a row.” Courtesy photo

The Terrell Chamber of Commerce Convention and Visitors Bureau and Terrell Economic Development Corporation rolled out the red carpet last week, recognizing citizens and businesses that make the city a better place to live, work and play at the annual Industrial Recognition Luncheon March 10.

Court reviews potential outdoor rec facility

The Kaufman County Commissioners Court covered familiar ground this week, revisiting a pair of potential large-scale projects aimed at making the local community safer. Prior to discussing those items, the court opened its weekly business by approving the deputization of Gary Prox for the Precinct 3 Constable’s Office and Timothy Jordan for the Precinct 2 Constable’s Office.
