April 15-16: Shoppers looking for anything and everything under the sun will be in paradise April 16-18 with the annual Historic U.S. 80 Hi-Way Sale set to return. Vendors will be set up along Highway 80 from Mesquite, Texas, to Jackson, Mississippi, selling homemade goods, furniture, tools, clothes and more during the three-day event. More than 60 dresses donated

The King’s Fort Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution just wrapped up their third Prom Dress Drive, collecting dresses that will benefit the students of Crandall High School. Spearheaded by Crystal Persall, this year’s efforts collected 64 dresses.

Two inducted into honor society

Hayes tabbed to fill Executive Director of Special Services role

Terrell Independent School District is excited to announce Jammie Hayes as TISD’s Executive Director of Special Services. Hayes, who is finishing her 27th year in education and currently serves as TISD’s Director of Special Services, holds a Master of Science in Special Education with a Diagnostician Certification from Texas A&M University.

Dallas McKinney and the rest of the Terrell Lady Tigers are scheduled to wrap up District 13-4A play with a road trip to Quinlan to take on the Ford Lady Panthers April 19 and a home date against the Farmersville Lady Farmers April 22. Cardinal Cheer adds 13th national championship

Scoring a 96.3982 in the Junior College Advanced Small Coed finals at the NCA Championships April 8 in Daytona Beach, Fla., Cardinal Cheer topped the six-team division. The championship-netting performance followed a deduction-free 95.8148 effort in Thursday’s preliminary round.

Cardettes win championship at Nationals

Trinity Valley Community College added another national championship trophy to their collection of hardware Sunday. The Cardettes Showgirls earned a championship in the Open Pom division at the DTU & College Classic Nationals competition in Orlando, Florida.

The week began on a tragic note during the early morning hours April 4 with first responders dispatched to the intersection of FM 2728 and Highway 80 in the far eastern portion of Kaufman County for a two-vehicle accident.

Sales tax revenues increase sharply

The Texas State Comptroller’s Office delivered a welcome bit of good news to Kaufman County city leaders this week, announcing that 11 out of 13 local entities have shown sales tax revenue gains when comparing April 2022 against those posted during the same calendar month from the previous year.
