Soccer teams wrap up 2023 season

The Terrell Lady Tiger and Tiger soccer programs took to the field one final time this season March 10, wrapping up a grueling campaign that included its share of talented opponents. Terrell would go on to split the two varsity contests as the Lady Tigers scored a 2-1 win over Ennis while the boys came up short against the Lions by a 3-1 score.

Track teams finish fourth at Crandall Invitational

The Terrell track and field program stayed busy ahead of the district’s spring break week, traveling to Pirate Stadium in Crandall March 10 to compete in the annual Crandall Invitational. Terrell finished fourth overall in the varsity boys division with 101 points, behind Forney with 157, Corsicana with 135 and Crandall with 101.

March 20: The Riter C. Hulsey Public Library and the Terrell Lions Club are hosting a free income tax preparation event for individuals and families making less than $70,000 each Monday from 6-7:30 p.m.

Senior Planet coming to Hulsey Public Library

Hulsey Public Library is launching a new program to help older adults in the Kaufman County area learn new skills, save money, get in shape, and make new friends. In partnership with Senior Planet (a flagship national nonprofit of AARP which harnesses technology to change the way older Americans age) the WINGS: Adult Education Program will be offering classes and workshops about technology, health and wellness, and socialization.

Kaufman County Precinct 3 Constable officially became the newest member of the Terrell Kiwanis Club during the group’s weekly meeting March 14. Local members stated, “Matt was inducted today as our newest Kiwanian. He jumped right in and is already a valuable part of our club. Want to learn more about what Kiwanis does? Join us for one of our meetings at noon on Tuesdays at 200 Elm Drive.”

Lone Star CASA honors National Child Abuse Prevention Month

April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month, and Lone Star CASA is raising awareness for the need to end child abuse and neglect in the Kaufman area. CASA volunteer advocates are everyday citizens who are recruited and specially trained to advocate for children in the child welfare system.

Public hearings on annexation set for March 20

In order to address the need for roads, police and public services to keep up with record growth across Kaufman County, City of Terrell officials have initiated annexation proceedings for multiple areas outside of the city limits.

Nelda Rosenbaum Daves Currie

1933-2023 Nelda Rosenbaum Daves Currie passed away on March 10, 2023 with her son and daughter by her side. Nelda was born December 6, 1933 in Royse City, Texas to Orbie and Ethel Rosenbaum, both of whom preceded her in death along with her first husband, Boone H.
