The community of Heartland celebrated the Fourth of July on June 30 at the community park. The residents of the community were able to enjoy the beloved holiday sharing food under the radiating sky, illuminated by vibrant 4th of July- themed fireworks. Food trucks, bounce houses, merchandise and rides were only a few of the many amenities at this festivity.

Forney based plane crashes, killing two

editor@terrelltribune.com A plane based out of Forney crashed in McKinney June 27, killing two people and critically injuring one. The Texas Department of Public Safety stated that Michael Lewis of Forney was one of the two people killed in the crash.

Sheriff’s Office introduces full body scanner

PrideRock Wildlife Refuge in Terrell is facing hard times ahead as funding continues to dry up and expenses to maintain the refuge continue to skyrocket. Speaking with Marketing Director Kayla McCain, the community is such an important part in helping the refuge run smoothly and just to maintain the day-today operations of the nonprofit.

Fire safety urged for Fourth

TEXAS PRESS ASSOCIATION With the Fourth of July bringing a possible four-day weekend for lucky Texans, the Texas A&M Forest Service urges outdoor enthusiasts to exercise fire safety outdoors, especially when using fireworks or starting campfires to roast hot dogs and toast marshmallows. Approximately 90 percent of wildfires are caused by humans and their activities, and the Fourth of July is one of the top days for reported wildfires, according to the forest service.
