Kaufman man sentenced to 50 Years

Information submitted by District Attorney Erleigh Norville Wiley's office District Attorney Erleigh Norville Wiley announced the conviction of Joseph Adrian Garcia, age 44, for Burglary of a Habitation with Intent to Commit Murder, a first-degree felony offense. On September 2, 2022, at approxi- mately 1:30 p.m., Kaufman Police Department received a 911 call from a concerned neighbor in the City of Kaufman who reported that she was observing a male subject yelling and screaming while trying to break into a nearby residence’s front door with a pickaxe.

Local farmers and ranchers are encouraged to participate in the upcoming hay sample collection drive aimed at ensuring the quality and safety of their feed supplies. The collection period will run until Monday, Sept. 9.

We Texans are blessed to live in the best state in the country for hunting deer. I’ve enjoyed hunting those big body deer up in North Dakota, the Golden Triangle in southwest Illinois, and many other places but give me a good old fashioned Texas deer hunt any day!

The groundUP launches Earning Our Stripes promotion

The groundUP is excited to announce the launch of its Annual Earning Our Stripes Promotion. This has occurred in Northern Illinois for the past three years, but this will mark the first time this community give-back program is being extended to the Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) Metroplex. This initiative is part of the groundUP’s commitment to supporting charitable organizations, not-for-profits, and religious institutions by offering free pavement marking services.

CareFlite hosts ribbon cutting in Terrell

CareFlite made its debut in Terrell on Thursday, Aug. 15 at the Terrell Municipal Airport. Bottom left, pictured are Steve Rogers, Jim Harper and Hal Richards. They laid the groundwork for CareFlite in 2008 to bring them to Kaufman County. The move will greatly reduce CareFlite times for emergencies in Terrell.
