Energy assistance available

Body
Excessive heat and high humidity are being experienced all across East Texas. Utility bills will be high and low income households may be challenged to deal with these high bills. Assistance may be available through federal LIHEAP funding. Funding is available for Kaufman county and surrounding counties. The program targets vulnerable households such as elderly, disabled and the working poor. The Greater East Texas Community Action Program administers the program in east Texas. Eligibility is based on household income, citizenship and circumstances. Low income households are encouraged to inquire now as demand will increase as the summer season continues.
