Terrell Police Department held its National Police Week Ceremony on the morning of May 14 to remember the law enforcement officers who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. Law enforcement officers stood alongside members of the community, fellow first responders, elected officials and the families of those that were lost as they reflected on the meaning of service, sacrifice and remembrance. During the ceremony, they recognized the lives and legacies of fallen officers through the reading of names and end of watch, wreath placement and a moment of silence. editor@terrelltribune.com Three people were injured in a plane crash in Forney in the early morning hours of Saturday, May 16. Texas Highway Patrol responded to a single-engine plane crash in a field on the southwest corner of Helms Trail and Akron Way in the city limits of Forney according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

May 23: The City of Terrell is hosting Movie Night in the Park on Saturday, May 23 at Ben Gill Park, located at 9th Street. Set-up for the night begins at 7 p.m.

Broadstreet Bank hosted their groundbreaking in Terrell on May 15 at 769 American Way. As part of its long-term growth strategy, the company that has made East Texas its home for 92 years has initiated expansion into the Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) metroplex.

editor@terrelltribune.com A traffic stop by Terrell Police Department netted multiple firearms and ammunition on Sunday, May 17. Terrell PD patrol officers conducted a traffic stop on a U-Haul rental truck for a traffic violation at 1 a.m.

Kaufman County Grand Jury returned 61 indictments May 15. Indictment information obtained from the District Clerk’s office does not include ages or addresses of defendants.

Mayor Rick Carmona and Terrell Council Member Jorge Vargas welcomed Run for the Wall riders making their annual fuel stop at Brookshire’s in Terrell on Sunday, May 17. The Terrell Chamber of Commerce, Terrell Fire Department, Chub’s Towing and all the veterans’ groups participated in the event. Terrell High School freshman Addie Johnston of Terrell High School Choir also sang the National Anthem.

The No. 1 British Flying Training School Museum welcomed veterans, families, history enthusiasts, and visitors from across the region on Saturday, May 9th for a memorable Victory in Europe Celebration honoring the courage, sacrifi ce, and victory of the World War II generation.

Terrell ISD has announced the Class of 2026 Senior procession and sunset for Wednesday, May 27. The procession will begin at 6 p.m.

Members of the Terrell Youth Council completed their community service project this past week. Youth members delivered a collection of pet food and supplies to the Terrell Animal Shelter.
