Brookshire Grocery Co. Relaunches Heroes Flight Program

Brookshire Grocery Co. is accepting applications from military veterans to fill 25 spots on its trip to Washington, D.C., Oct. 21-23 for the 20th Brookshire’s and Super 1 Foods Heroes Flight program. In addition to veterans from World War II and the Korean War, this flight will include veterans who served during the Vietnam War, Gulf War, War in Afghanistan and War in Iraq. BGC provides the all-expenses paid trip as a way of honoring our veterans for their service and sacrifices.

Sand bass: The people’s fish

I was well into my 20s when I first began fishing for white bass (sand bass) as they are called in North Texas. Sand bass flourish in lakes with feeder streams and each spring make spawning runs in the creeks or rivers.

Alexis States and Camille Gillespie from Terrell High School, arrived at Camp RYLA Sunday, May 26. The Terrell Rotary Club provided scholarships for two incoming Terrell High School seniors to attend Camp RYLA 2024, which is a student leadership camp.

Clays for CASA to be held August 16

Registration has opened for Lone Star CASA’s 9th Annual Clays for CASA which will be held at Texas Gun Ranch in Terrell, on August 16th. All of the proceeds from this event benefit Lone Star CASA to ensure that 100 percent of children who have experienced abuse and neglect in Rockwall and Kaufman Counties have an advocate by their side.
