Clerk’s Office Receives Recognition for Excellence

The Kaufman County Commissioners Court recognized and offered their congratulations to the County Clerk’s office for receiving the 2023 Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) Five Star Award. This marks the 18th year that the Clerk’s office has received this prestigious award. According to dshs.texas.gov, the Five StarAward acknowledges vital statistics partners who understand the importance of vital statistics and their impact on the citizens of Texas. This award honors partners who go above and beyond the duties of birth and death registration by attending training and keeping up with the latest legislation and trends. County Clerk, Laura Hughes, credits Bobbie Sue Bartlett, Maribel Vazquez, Jacky Salazar, Reece Collier, Beatriz Sauceda, and Leslie DeLaRosa for the work they do on a daily basis to win this award. “These ladies strive to maintain the State’s extraordinarily high standards each and every day” states Ms. Hughes, “and I am so proud of them for achieving this award once again. Their attention to detail and customer service is impeccable and we are happy to thank them all for a job well done!'

Poetry names Hoffman Teacher of the Week

The Poetry Community Christian School Teacher of the Week is awarded to Vicky Hoffman. Mrs. Hoffman has a wealth of experience to offer third grade students. After teaching for public school for 13 years in local districts including McKinney, Crandall and Forney, she thought she wanted to retire but reported to PCCS “God is calling me back” when she joined the Elementary faculty at the end of 2021 when another teacher became ill. She graduated from LeTourneau University and earned her teacher certifications in ESL, GT, EC-4th and Digital Fluency. She and her husband, David, attend Life Community Church in Sunnyvale. She loves the freedom to integrate faith and learning, horses and teaching third graders.
