Kaufman County Emergency Management Coordinator Steve Howie received a crucial update regarding the possible waterway contamination on Aug. 19. Stemming from a fire at the Sherwin Williams company in Garland August 7. Since that fire, contaminants from fire suppression chemicals have posed a threat from Duck Creek in Garland to the East Fork of the Trinity River in Kaufman County.

Terrell Police are investigating the shooting death of a Terrell High School student Wednesday morning. According to a press release from the Terrell Police Department, officers responded to a 9-1-1 call at 8:12 a.m.
