Pentecost Sunday is known as the Birthday of the Church, a celebration of the Holy Spirit coming upon the people who heard the sound of a rushing wind from heaven. First United Methodist Church and College Mound United Methodist Church will celebrate Pentecost Sunday, May 28, with an Organ Concert and Acts 2 Reading at 4 pm in the historic Sanctuary, built in 1910, of First United Methodist Church, 503 W.

Though many people are quick to refer to Memorial Day as the unofficial beginning of summer, the day is much more than that. Initially known as Decoration Day, Memorial Day is a day to remember those military members who died in service of the country.

This year’s election cycle began in earnest back in January with candidate filing for two positions on the Terrell City Council and three positions on the Terrell ISD Board of Trustees potentially up for grabs in May.

Local officials have announced that they will be hosting a special Memorial Day event to honor the men and women of Kaufman County who gave their lives to protect us and give us the freedom we enjoy every day. The Memorial Day Ceremony will take place on Memorial Day, May 29 at 11 a.m.

Things would prove to be markedly different when longtime and new riders returned to Terrell, greeted May 21 with warmer temperatures, no rain and comfortable cloud cover.
