For over 20 years, the Genesis Center on State Highway 34 has been a beacon for women and children in crisis. This Christian-based facility serves women recovering from domestic abuse, facing homelessness, and/or recovering from addiction. Average gasoline prices in Texas have risen 19.0 cents per gallon in the last week, averaging $3.24/g Oct. 10, according to GasBuddy's survey of 13,114 stations in Texas. Prices in Texas are 12.2 cents per gallon higher than a month ago and stand 34.0 cents per gallon higher than a year ago. The national average price of diesel has increased 18.0 cents in the last week and stands at $5.04 per gallon.

More than 180 runners and walkers enjoyed the pleasant weather this weekend at the Annual Poetry Color Run Oct. 8. Overall winners 5K were Philip Morales and Debra Barbour.
