NTMWD begins filling Bois d’Arc Lake

Bois d’Arc Lake, the first major reservoir in Texas in nearly 30 years, is now filling. The North Texas Municipal Water District (NTMWD) began impounding, or capturing, water on the 16,641- acre lake this week.

Setting on a hillside in Palo Pinto County last week on the Dale River Ranch, I overlooked a little valley that led down to a creek that joined the Brazos a half mile or so to the north. My goal was to use my trusty old box call to entice a gobbler out of the heavy cover.

Kaufman Co. Aggies to assemble for muster April 21

Aggies from the Kaufman County area will gather on Wednesday, April 21 for Aggie Muster, an occasion for Aggies to enjoy fellowship and to honor Aggies who have died in the past year. This year’s muster will be held at 6:30 p.m. at the Kaufman Civic Center located at 607 E. Fair St.

Jim Weems, of Terrell, passed away April 10, 2021 into the presence of his Lord and Savior. Jim was born July 21, 1944 in Lufkin to Jim and Gladys (Jones) Weems, both of whom greeted him in Heaven along with his brother Roy Weems and grandson Levi Hamby.
