State sales tax revenue totaled $3.6 billion in November

Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar announced Dec. 1 that state sales tax revenue totaled $3.56 billion in November, 19.4 percent more than in November 2020. The majority of November sales tax revenue is based on sales made in October and remitted to the agency in November.

Miles upon miles of West Texas hunting

While sitting in a deer blind looking over a West Texas vista that seemed to stretch on forever, the tune, “Miles and Miles of Texas” came to mind. Songwriters Diane Johnston and Tommy Camfield surely must have spent time on this ranch in Mitchell County 60 years ago when they penned the words to their famous song.

The Home Depot in Terrell had the opportunity to award a non-profit organization within the community with a $1,000 grant. They chose to surprise Dwight Malone and the students and staff of the Child and Adolescent Center at the Terrell State Hospital as the recipients of their generosity. The staff at Home Depot have worked with Mr. Malone in the past to provide support building ramps and addressing other campus needs. Local sales tax revenues climb 28.84 percent

Kaufman County cities had plenty to celebrate last week with the Texas State Comptroller’s Office announcing that virtually all local cities, with the exception of Oak Ridge and Post Oak Bend, had seen sales tax revenue growth when comparing December 2021 against the same calendar month from the previous year.
