Texas to receive $290 million from J&J in opioid settlement

AUSTIN – Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton announced a $290 million statewide opioid settlement agreement with Johnson & Johnson to resolve opioid-related claims. The agreement will largely track the terms of the Global Prescription Opioid Litigation Settlement Agreement that was announced July 23. According to the settlement, Johnson & Johnson has agreed to pay $29.84 million into the Qualified Settlement Fund, representing Texas’s allocation of the Global Abatement Settlement.

More to hunting than the kill

For many years I have found myself in a tree stand or ground blind in early October with my bow. I’ve taken some good size bucks in northern states during early bow season but here closer to home it’s usually younger bucks and does that offer close-in bow shots.
Luke’s bow stand this past week was near this old whiskey still that has been resting here for well over 100 years. Fodder for much thought for a guy setting way back in the woods waiting for a deer. LUKE CLAYTON PHOTO
