On Friday nights you can find the Terrell High School marching band in the stands cheering for the Terrell Tiger football team. On Wednesday, October 20 at the UIL District Marching competition in Mesquite, you found the opposite.

Kaufman County Judge Hal Richards announced Wednesday that he will not seek re-election to a second term as county judge. Richards said in a statement: “On New Year’s Day, I began to think about my plans for the future and whether or not to commit to another four years in elected office.

I recently posed the question on social media “What’s your favorite freshwater fish to eat that’s commonly caught in Texas waters?” Several hundred folks responded with their favored species for the frying pan or grill and many elaborated with their methods of cooking. In my post, I mentioned I was conducting an unofficial ‘poll’ and the results would be the topic for my outdoor column this week.

Terrell police made the following arrests and responded to the following incidents between Oct. 13 and Oct.

The Terrell Tigers returned home for the first time since Sept. 24 last week, continuing District 7-4A play with a game against the visiting Paris Wildcats. Paris would prevail in the hard-hitting contest, outpacing Terrell 21-0 in the second half on their way to a 28-7 win.

The Terrell ISD celebrated its 2021 Tiger Athletic Hall of Fame inductees on Oct. 15 during a series of events. Darryl Keith “Skeeter” Derrick, Dwight Gentry II, Clayton Hass, Dianne Hooker, Burnest Rhodes, and Jherrod Stiggers were inducted. They join a group of more than 100 distinguished student athletes who graduated from or coached at either Terrell High School or Burnett High School. These exceptional individuals were nominated for this honor based on their athletic achievements, character, and overall contribution to the Terrell ISD. Accompanying them at the induction were last year’s inductees, Carl Holland, Johnny Lawson, Jammal McCullar, and Chante Threets Carter. Oct. 22-23: Alinea Family Hospice Care will host its annual parking lot garage sale at 303 E. College St., with all proceeds going directly to help families who are on hospice care. Friday’s sale will take place from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m., and Saturday’s sale will be from 8 a.m. – 3 p.m. Those interested in donating to the cause or with questions are asked to call Mike Stone at 972-563-1560.
