The Barbara Leatherwood Fight for the Cure has announced that it will hosting a charity auction to raise funds for Kim Shofner on Jan. 14 at 5 p.m. at the Fairfield Marriot Ballroom located at 351 Market Center Drive in Terrell.

Texas State Parks kicks off 100-year celebration with First Day Hikes

Three, two, one ... Happy Birthday, Texas State Parks! Park lovers everywhere are invited to help Texas State Parks begin celebrating 100 years Jan. 1 with a First Day Hike. Almost every Texas State Park will host ranger-guided and self-guided walks, bike rides, paddling trips and polar plunges in honor of the national initiative aimed at getting people outdoors.

Tour of Homes set for Dec. 3

The Social Science Club of Terrell and local homeowners will roll out the red carpet to the local community Dec. 3, bringing back the annual “Christmas in a Small Town” Tour of Homes event that had been put on hiatus for a twoyear span due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

TJC Apache Band, Belles to present Christmas Extravaganza

For their inaugural Christmas Extravaganza, the Tyler Junior College Apache Band and Apache Belles are hauling out the holly, the tinsel and the showstopping holiday tunes — plus a few surprises. “In honor of the 75th anniversary of the TJC Apache Belles and Apache Band, we’re celebrating ‘the most wonderful time of the year’ — together!” said Apache Belles Director Jasilyn Schaefer.

The 2022 holiday shopping season promises to be an unpredictable one. The labor shortage and supply chain issues are already throwing a wrench into holiday shopping. Electronics, toys, and other products will be (or already are) in short supply, and retailers are struggling to staff up as the shopping season nears.
