Local businessman arrested in Terrell

editor@terrelltribune.com The Terrell Police Department arrested local businessman Larry Vrzalik of Kaufman for a reported theft July 9. According to an arrest report from Terrell PD, Vrzalik allegedly stole multiple items from a Home Depot store back on April 23.

Terrell PD partners with A&M Commerce with pathway learning

Texas A&M-Commerce and the Terrell Police Department have established a preferred educational pathway for the city’s police officers to earn a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice with an emphasis in law enforcement leadership. The fully online, competency-based program is offered through the College of Innovation and Design. Through the partnership, eligible officers receive direct admission to the program. Students can transfer up to 84 credit hours of community college, WECM, military or other college credit toward the graduation requirements. Courses are offered in seven-week terms with the ability to leverage prior knowledge to accelerate through coursework, expediting the graduation timeline. Officers also benefit from a dedicated success team that provides advising, mentoring and academic tracking to ensure a smooth educational experience.

Hunting equipment, safety program set for Aug. 3

Terrell VFD purchases extrication tools

The Terrell Volunteer Fire Department announced their recent purchase of a new set of Holmatro Pentheon battery-powered hydraulic extrication tools July 8. These tools are primarily used for vehicle extrication but can also be used in other types of rescues, such as structural firefighting (for example, when dealing with burglar bars), and in many other scenarios.
