The Kaufman County Commissioners Court held its first of two scheduled meetings for the month on July 6, gathering for over an hour to tackle an agenda that included discussion on items related to the acquisition and disposal of county-owned equipment.

With crime on the rise throughout the nation, Kaufman County is considering implementing a curfew for minors in the unincorporated areas of the county to help protect our youth. While many Kaufman County cities already have curfews for minors, there is nothing in place in the unincorporated areas of the County. County officials are interested in input from residents in the county.

The Kaufman County Commissioners Court had its plate full July 6, tackling a wide-ranging agenda that included discussion on topics related to equipment purchases, road projects and items related to the 2021-’22 budget.

The Terrell Volunteer Fire Department is mourning the loss of one of its own, announcing the passing of 35-year-old William James 'Jim' Crumby over the recent holiday weekend. In a statement published on Facebook early July 5, department officials stated, “Sunday evening, TVFD received the call no department is ever prepared to receive.
