Cody Thomas Daniel went home to be with his Lord and Savior on October 28, 2021. He was loved beyond measure and will be missed more than he could have ever imagined. Cody leaves behind a great legacy of love in the form of those who loved him. He is survived by his son Corbin Lee Daniel and his mother Heather Shoemake, Cody’s mother Melissa Smith and husband Ray, father, Thomas (Tommy) Tidmore Jr. and wife Tanya, Father Jimmy Martin and wife Pricilla, his beloved sister Caitlin LaPoint and husband James, brothers Chris Tidmore, Jayden Smith, Justin Martin, Dylan McCollum, Tanner Martin, Chris Martin, and sister Devan Loyola.

Cody had a strong foundation that was given to him through, not only his parents, but by his grandparents Ronnie and Mary Daniel of Terrell, Thomas Tidmore Sr. and wife Carol of Kaufman and Tommy and Priscilla Martin. The love of this entire family is like the roots of a strong and majestic tree. They go deep and intertwine with the others to form an unmovable assembly to withstand even this storm of grief and mourning.

Cody had one nephew and two nieces that he enjoyed playing with. His playful nature would find him in the floor with all the little ones of his family, teaching them the things their parents would later have to correct. Not only did his sense of humor resonate through the children, but his many aunts, uncles and cousins would be the victim of it as well. To remember the laughter is to remember the intoxicating smile that was worn on his face. Cody had a laugh that was contagious in a vibrating chain reaction through the room.

As the family has sat remembering his life, so many laughs have been had. From playing “Potholes” with his sister and cousins to him wearing worn out boots with duct tape at his shows and joking that he could get better tips! The photos of days past showed when he dressed as Lil Wayne along with the other convicts and took pictures beside the Kaufman County Inmate Transportation van. He was even drug by his little sister and cousin as they were trying to get away after going against his direction, and out of fear they jumped from the golf cart in motion. As always, he came to the rescue by jumping into the runaway cart to stop it just short of hitting the house. And everyone remembered Cody was the “Grammar Police”. He felt like it was his place to correct those who were embarrassing themselves on social media. Again, his sense of humor was appreciated by even those he corrected. Cody and Chris also felt like they were Vin Diesel and Paul Walker in a go cart only to end up taking out the neighbor’s mailbox.

Cody’s love for music got its start in a small country Church in Terrell, where he played “Long Black Train” for his PaPa Ronnie. He was so proud of being able to do that for the man he thought walked on water. Cody caused quite the commotion in the family because Nana always had more pictures of Cody than any other grandkid which did not sit well with Cousin Stephanie. But the cold hard truth is, being the first grandchild, he was perfect in his Nana’s eyes, and he knew it. The proudest moment of their lives and his parents was when he was saved and baptized at the age of 16, which has given the most peace knowing that he rests in the arms of Christ today.

His father Tommy has memories that consist of how he read to Cody while he safely grew in his mother’s loving womb and was born a student of love. The fear of seeing his baby fighting for his life in the hospital from bronchitis, but Cody’s precious smile would give a father the strength to persevere. Watching the energetic child seeing him laugh as he was guided by the love of his father, innocent, adventurous in life and in the sound of music and a love that is only Cody.

Cody was blessed to have two fathers in his life. He was a precious gem and to his father Jimmy who loved and treasured him. They were given the gift of time to allow their bond to be formed and nurtured through their similarities and growing love. He will never take for granted how precious that time was with his son Cody.

His passion for music was second only to his love for his family. The very basis of his existence was to make sure all knew he loved them and they always had his ear if needed. He loved to sing and had two sides to his music. One side was for his friends and fans, but the other was reserved for his family.

But make no mistake the greatest legacy Cody leaves here is his son Corbin Lee. His love ran deeper for him than the furthest valleys of the ocean. Cody’s family has many memories of love and laughter to fill the hole that was left by his leaving.

Letter from Mom: My son, I have loved you since the first day you were born. You showed me how to love more than I could have imagined or loved myself. From the time you played soccer, band and football to the first time that you sang on the steps of the Church. I knew that there was nothing you couldn’t do once you put your heart and mind into it. When you became a father I saw, once again, you put all of yourself into being the best father you could be. The gates of your memories will never close from my heart. I miss you more than anyone will ever know. My son, till we meet again, always and forever, I will love you!

Funeral service for Cody will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 2, 2021 at Max Slayton Funeral Chapel with interment following the service at Elmo Cemetery. Cody's family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, November 1, 2021 at Max Slayton Funeral Chapel.
