1948-2023

Ronnie (Ron) Pat Wesson of Terrell, Texas passed away unexpectedly on Oct. 15, 2023 and his family takes great comfort in the words from the apostle Paul in 2 Corinthians 5:8 that to be absent here on Earth is to be present with the Lord. Ron was born on Feb. 4, 1948 to WT (Jack) and Viola Wesson and was one of eleven children.

He was a graduate from Terrell High School, 1966, North Texas State University, 1970. He was the ultimate alumni. He believed a person never stopped learning and Ron was inherently dedicated to ensuring that past, present and future students knew that UNT was the best decision they could make for their future.

Ron married the love of his life and his best friend, Rebecca (Becky) House and they were married for almost 40 years. In those 40 years, he and Becky shared endless memories as they raised their children, traveling to new (and much-loved familiar) places, going to concerts, Rangers games, and comedy shows, eating out, and becoming grandparents while making sure that their love for each other continued as the foundation in their growing family.

Ron never met a stranger and was a friend, coach and mentor to many. He had a love for music, making his own homemade mixed CDs and frequented many a concert over the years. Nothing made Ron happier than the time spent with his kids and grandchildren and going to their activities, teaching them to drive, seeing them graduate, getting married, taking road-trips, and going to football games. These were the absolute pinnacles of his life.

Ron’s work ethic had no limits. He started working with his dad in Elmo at a young age and worked every day until his retirement in 2016. Ron’s career started with Southland Corporation auditing stores across the greater Dallas area. In the early 1980s, he began a career as an insurance agent and did that until the mid ‘90s when he decided it was time for a career change. In 1996, he turned to teaching and this would be the occupation that was Ron’s calling. Ron’s support, respect, compassion and pride for his students made Mr. Wesson every student’s favorite. Under Ron’s guidance, Terrell ISD’s DECA program flourished. He was never prouder than when he would witness his students working in the community, going on to college and finding their own calling in their individual career paths.

Ron will be remembered for his loving spirit, kind heart, hugs, and gentle soul and his family is proud to carry on his legacy of hard work and a lifetime of always learning to be the best at every achievement.

Ron is survived by his beloved wife, Becky Wesson; treasured children: Brad Wesson, Angie Bowers (Ray), and Heather Jestis; cherished grandchildren: Jordan Bowers, Rayley Bowers, Jenna Wesson, Becca Jestis, Cade Wesson, Lee Jestis, and Drew Jestis; brother, Marshall (Brenda) Wesson; sisters, Mary Nichols and Brenda Scott as well as many in-laws, nieces, nephews, a host of friends and countless students whose lives Ron impacted. Ron was joyfully reunited in Heaven with his parents; brothers: WT Wesson Jr, John Earl Wesson, Bill Wesson, Kenneth Lawson, Lloyd Lawson; sisters: Jean Shipman and Cliffie Chambers; granddaughter, Paige Wesson; and son-in-law, Troy Jestis.
