White bass are fun to catch and excellent table fare regardless whether they are caught during their annual spawning run up rivers or secluded creeks or right now when they have wrapped up their procreation efforts and are in giant schools on the open waters of the main lake.

Jubilee brings crowds to Ben Gill Park

Mother Nature brought a little bit of everything to the 42nd Terrell Jubilee April 20-23 including early rains on Thursday, temps in the mid 70s with plenty of sunshine on Friday and Saturday, and a cold blast to cap the weekend on Sunday.

Early voting off to slow start

Local voters are officially on the clock this week with early voting for the May 6 election cycle set to wrap May 2. Unlike the 2022 cycle, which saw plenty of interest with several state-level races and multiple returns have been relatively slow throughout the county with the seven open voting sites reporting just 863 total ballots cast over the first two days of early voting.

Sales tax revenues increase 14.34 percent

DAVID KAPITAN editor@terrelltribune.com The Texas State Comptroller’s Office delivered a welcome dose of good news to Kaufman County cities last week, reporting for the third consecutive month that 11 out of 13 local entities had seen sales tax revenue gains when comparing against totals from the same calendar month from the previous year. In keeping with local trends, the City of Terrell led the way by seeing a county-best increase of $172,192.91 in collections, from $1,201,109.23 in April 2022 up to $1,373,302.14 in April 2023.
