The Easter Bunny made a special stop at Terrell High School April 5, visiting with special education students ahead of the upcoming Easter holiday. Students were all smiles as they collected Easter eggs and took pictures. Terrell ISD officials stated, “Judging by the overflowing buckets and smiles, it was a huge success! Thank you to the THS Cheer team for helping Mr. Bunny with his surprise!”

The Terrell High School Academics Team is composed of students that compete in academic, speech, and theatrical events at the district level. Students that place in the top six receive points for their school that go towards the overall Sweepstakes Award, and students that place in the top three advance on to the Regional Competition for a chance to advance to state from there. Terrell had students place in the top six in accounting, computer apps, computer science, current issues and events, journalism, social studies, spelling, prose, poetry, informative and persuasive speaking, CX debate, LD debate, and one-act play. Terrell will have students competing at Regionals in Arlington on April 21-22 in accounting, computer science, current issues and events, journalism, prose, poetry, informative and persuasive speaking, and LD debate.

What’s that they say about the best laid plans of mice and men? The plan I mentioned in last week’s column concerning some greatly anticipated creek fishing for spawning crappie and white bass provided zero bites, the cold front had possibly pushed the fish out to open water or they simply decided they weren’t hungry. We walked several hundred yards of creek bank tossing small spinners into likely spots along the creek. A week before, this stretch of creek provided red hot action, but that’s fishing! There was no current and the water level appeared to have dropped a bit. I love catching fish but after a hundred fruitless casts with nary a strike, it was time to regroup and concede that these fish simply were not hungry. There’s always a plan B with hunting and fishing and we had some barbequed wild pork and camp beans waiting back at camp. It was close enough to lunch time to take a break and think this situation over.

STAFF REPORTS The execution of a “knock and announce” search warrant by members of the Terrell Police Department’s SWAT Team March 30 led the arrest of two suspects on drug-related charges. According to information released by the Terrell PD, SWAT Team members executed a “knock and announce” narcotics search warrant at 207 Eason Street at approximately 9:08 p.m.

The Kaufman County Commissioners Court welcomed members of various organizations dedicated towards helping the most vulnerable resi- and Awareness Month.
