Full slate of TISD holiday shows coming to Terrell

December is shaping up to be a busy month for the Terrell ISD Fine Arts Department with productions of “A Christmas Carol,” concerts, parade appearances and the annual Christmas Spectacular. Terrell students in grades 3 through 12 are working to entertain people throughout the city with a full slate of joyous holiday programs at the Jamie Foxx Performing Arts Center.

Council approves opioid resolution

The Terrell City Council wrapped up a busy month of meetings with a final session Nov. 30, tackling an agenda heavy on administrative reports before approving a resolution related to an opioid settlement that could ultimately net the city additional funding.

ERCOT: Power outages could happen again in cold snap

Electricity outages in Texas could occur this winter if the state experiences a cold snap that forces many power plants offline at the same time as demand for power is high, according to an analysis by the Electric Reliability Council of Texas. The outages could occur despite better preparations by power plants to operate in cold weather.

Recognizing the NorthTexas Longhorns

The NorthTexas Longhorns Summer Track Club was recognized by the City Council last week. Of the club's 74 athletes, 48 qualified for the Texas Amateur Athletic Federation Games of Texas. Mayor Rick Carmona announced the club's Athletes of the Year: Kyren Dabney, Silver Medalist, 400 and 800 meters and Malaya Johnson, Gold Medalist, 100 and 200 meters and a member of record-setting 4 x 100 meter relay.
