St. John’s Crochet Ministry piecing things together

Body
Since 2009, St John’s Crochet Ministry has been busy making hats and scarves, prayer shawls, lap blankets, walker bags and more. These items are donated to various agencies throughout the Kaufman County area. From Meals on Wheels, medical offices, nursing homes, and rehab therapy, residents receive a warm virtual hug and an item lovingly handmade to limit the winter chill.

This week in the outdoors...

Body
It’s been one of those weeks that I’ve stuck pretty close to home and caught up on some past due writing, mostly on an article I’m working on pertaining to predation by raccoons. I’ve spent a couple of evenings with my thermal scope setting near a corn feeder shooting digital photos of raccoons for the article.
Raccoons are cute little critters when coming to the back door to clean up a cat or dog feeding bowl but in the wild, they are very efficient predators. When their numbers get out of control, they can do great damage, especially to ground nesting birds. Photo by Luke Clayton
