MY LITTLE PLACE

Body
This past week was a good one for your old outdoor scribe. I’ve enjoyed some red hot catfish catching, spent time setting up a corn feeder on my little place in hopes of keeping a sounder of hog from ripping my heavily laden pear tree apart and wrapped things up with a trip to Nacogdoches for a deer hunting show presented by the East Texas Chapter of the Dallas Safari Club. So come along, let me recap the week, I think you might enjoy backtracking my trail with me.

BFTS Museum offers flight simulator for area youth

Body
Do you want to take a shot at flying an airplane? Not a real airplane, but an advanced X-Plane 12 Flight Simulator with three screens connected to a high-speed gaming computer. The setup includes sound, a yoke, rudder pedals and a throttle quadrant. The views out the cockpit windows are very realistic. With the engine sounds and the view, you really feel like you are flying an airplane. The best part? The experience is free!
A student at Poetry Community Christian School, Valcus Best’s interest in aviation began with building model airplanes. He also participates in Christian Soldiers karate, theater, Trail Life USA and singing in the choir. His parents are Joseph and Donna Best. Best will be helping local youths experience of simulator flying. Photo courtesy of No. 1 BFTS Museum

Body
Lake Ray Hubbard fishing guide Brandon Sargent with Lead Slingers Guide Service eased the throttle back on his big 27-foot custom guide boat and studied our route to a fishing hotspot on his GPS. On close inspection, I could readily see the spot we would be fishing had been visited many times.
