Paxton secures $1.167 billion for Texas in global opioid agreement

Attorney General Paxton successfully secured $1.167 billion for Texas out of the $26 billion opioid agreement with the nation’s three major pharmaceutical distributors – Cardinal, McKesson, and Amerisource-Bergen. This is the fifth statewide opioid settlement that Attorney General Paxton has finalized for Texas. With the addition of this distributor settlement, General Paxton has secured for Texas over $1.89 billion to date from the makers and distributors of opioids.

The NFL legend running back Adrian Peterson will not face felony domestic violence charges, despite initially being booked for the serious offence. The 36-year-old former All-Pro player was arrested for domestic violence, but the L.A. District Attorney will not pursue charges. The case will be sent to the City Attorney and Peterson could face misdemeanor domestic charges, though.

Tigers punch ticket to Area round

The Terrell Tigers entered postseason play riding high, having notched district wins over Quinlan Ford, Farmersville, Caddo Mills and Sunnyvale since the calendar turned to February. The start of the playoffs did little to slow Terrell’s momentum as the Tigers more than held their own in a 54-42 win over District 14-4A runners-up Athens Feb.
